Man Who Shot Cary Officer To Receive Additional Jail Time

RALEIGH, N.C. — The man who shot a Cary police officer last year will spend more time behind bars.

A judge sentenced Emory Bivens to 23 to 30 years for attempted first-degree murder. He also recieved 12 to 15 years for assault with a deadly weapon.

Bivins was already handed a life sentence for federal drug charges. In October 2001, Officer George Almond was shot in the face during a traffic stop.
