print friendly

Durham police are investigating a homicide that occurred early Tuesday in an apartment complex on Seaton Road in the Parkwood community.

Police received a breaking and entering call just before 3 a.m. Tuesday. When they arrived at the home on the 1304 Seaton Road, they found a teenage boy dead inside the home.

Officials said the back sliding glass door had been shattered. Officers found Ian MacLaurin Davis II, 18, in a den on the first floor. He had been shot with a shotgun at close range and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told investigators that two or three men broke into the apartment, robbed one resident and shot the Davis. There were several people in the apartment at the time.

Investigators described the man armed with the shotgun as black, in his late 20s to early 30s, 6'1" to 6'3" inches tall, 250 to 280 pounds with a muscular build. He had a dark complexion and a close-cut beard and mustache. He was wearing a black doo-rag on his head, a dark long-sleeve sweater, blue jeans, black Timberland boots and weight-lifting style gloves.

There were no descriptions of the other suspect or suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Durham Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division at 560-4440 or CrimeStoppers at 683-1200.
