Cary Receives Federal Grant For Sludge Recycling

Posted Updated

CARY. N.C. — The town of Cary is hoping to become a pioneer in this part of the state when it comes to recycling sludge, the by-product of wastewater treatment.

Monday, Congressman David Price presented the town with $1 million in federal money to help build a dryer which will turn sludge into fertilizer.

The dryer will be built at Cary's South Water Reclaimation Facility and will be able to process 250,000 gallons of sludge per day.
