State Trooper Fired For Involvement In Prostitution Sting

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A highway patrolman was fired Thursday for trying to hire an undercover cop posing as a prostitute.

Last week, Fayetteville police dropped charges against more than 30 people, including trooper Edward Royal.

The Cumberland County district attorney decided to drop the charges after Royal was not charged in the same sting. Royal, who was based in Sampson County, had been on the force for five years.
