Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Authorities say heavy rain contributed to a fatal accident at a Wake County creek Wednesday.

Authorities said Benjamin Coad was traveling northbound on Highway 401 Wednesday when his car jumped a guardrail on a bridge and crashed into Swift Creek.

Authorities said they were able to get Coad out of the car, but he later died.

Authorities said he was the only person in the car.
