Raleigh police said officer Peter Manukas has his blue lights and siren on as he approached the intersection of Clark Avenue and Woodburn Road just after 10:30 a.m.
Manukas was headed to a bank robbery at the BB&T branch at Oberlin Road and Hillsborough Street, just two blocks away.
The police cruiser collided with a car driven by Julie Buchas. Buchas was crossing Woodburn Rd. into Cameron Village.
"I always think accident, my fault. I did something wrong. But we had the green light and we were coming across and we were hit. That's all. I didn't even see him hit us. I just felt it," she said.
Both cars were heavily damaged; no one was injured.
Investigators said both parties share responsbility for the wreck.
The bank robbery suspect has not been caught.
