WILSON, N.C. — Wilson County deputies are searching for the people who shot and tried to rob the owners of the Brewer Speedway.
Deputies said George Brewer heard his dogs barking late Monday night and checked his back yard. A group of male suspects followed him into the house and demanded cash.
Brewer and his wife, Cindy, were pistol-whipped and George was shot several times in the hip and back. He is recovering at Nash General Hospital. Cindy Brewer was treated and released from the hospital.
Authorities are searching for the suspects.
