Family Celebrating Buddy Myers' 6th Birthday Without Him

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Tuesday would be

Tristan "Buddy" Myers'

sixth birthday, but his family is celebrating without him.

Myers disappeared from his aunt's Sampson County home in October 2000 and is still missing. On Tuesday, the family released an enhanced picture of Buddy to show the public what he would look like now.

His family helped CUE, a missing persons' organization, fingerprint and photograph children in that area. The records aid police if a child is reported missing.

"With Buddy, he's on my mind everyday and whenever I see another child missing or even just a person missing, it tears me up to think another family has to go through it," said Donna Myers, Buddy's aunt.

Family members said they plan to put Buddy's new picture on billboards across the state. They said they will not give up until he is found.
