ROCKY MOUNT, NC — Water restrictions are now under way in Rocky Mount. Mandatory cutbacks took effect at noon on Friday.

The city's main water reservoir, which is supplied by the Tar River, is only about half full.

People who live east of Highway 301 can water on Saturdays. People who live west of the highway can water on Sundays. Watering is only allowed between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

All other outdoor water uses are banned.
