Authorities Deny Wrongdoing In Fatal Wayne County Auto Accident

print friendly

State troopers deny any wrongdoing in connection with a deadly high-speed chase in Wayne County.

Troopers say 15-year-old Michael Hill took a neighbor's car Saturday night without permission.

A state trooper clocked Hill driving 79 mph in a 55 mph zone on Highway 117-A. Authorities said Hill passed a car in a no-passing zone and that is when troopers chased him.

At one point, authorities said speeds got up to 125 mph. Authorities say Hill lost control and crashed just outside Mount Olive.

Hill was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the car.
