DOT Closes Section Of Roxboro Road

DURHAM, N.C. — The state Department of Transportation has closed off a section of Roxboro Road in Durham.

will be closed

from Foushee Street to Interstate 85 for about six months as crews construct a culvert, part of the DOT's Interstate 85 improvement project.

During the closing, which began Sunday night, motorists needing to travel southbound on Roxboro Road should note the following:

  • Drivers will take Avondale Drive to the Avondale Drive/Roxboro Road connector and back to Roxboro Road.
  • Both the ramp accessing I-85 South from Roxboro Road and Exit 177A (Roxboro Road) on I-85 South will be closed.
  • To access I-85 South from Roxboro Road, motorists will follow Avondale Drive to the I-85 South access ramp. To access Roxboro Road from I-85 South, motorists will take Exit 177B (Avondale Drive) and follow the signed detour route.
  • The DOT said businesses within the work zone will be accessible to the public during the closing. Changeable message signs will inform motorists of construction information.
