DOT Closes Section Of Roxboro Road

DURHAM, N.C. — The state Department of Transportation has closed off a section of Roxboro Road in Durham.

Roxboro Road

will be closed

from Foushee Street to Interstate 85 for about six months as crews construct a culvert, part of the DOT's Interstate 85 improvement project.

During the closing, which began Sunday night, motorists needing to travel southbound on Roxboro Road should note the following:

Drivers will take Avondale Drive to the Avondale Drive/Roxboro Road connector and back to Roxboro Road.

Both the ramp accessing I-85 South from Roxboro Road and Exit 177A (Roxboro Road) on I-85 South will be closed.

To access I-85 South from Roxboro Road, motorists will follow Avondale Drive to the I-85 South access ramp. To access Roxboro Road from I-85 South, motorists will take Exit 177B (Avondale Drive) and follow the signed detour route.

The DOT said businesses within the work zone will be accessible to the public during the closing. Changeable message signs will inform motorists of construction information.
