Family Sues Fayetteville Group Home Owner, Former Employees

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The owner of a Fayetteville group home and two former employees are being sued for child abuse.

The family of an autistic boy claims an employee of the Avalon Group Home burned him with an iron in December 2000.

The worker, Ronald Rooks, was convicted of felony child abuse last year.

The lawsuit blames the owner, the owner's daughter and the home's registered nurse for failure to provide the boy with immediate medical attention.
