e-mail print friendly

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office says a 10-year-old student made up the story that he was abducted in the hallway of his school Tuesday afternoon.

Detectives learned Wednesday morning from the mother of the student who alleged to have been kidnapped that the student fabricated the incident.

Officiasl say the student's motive for fabricating the story about the incident at Warrenwood Elementary School was to gain attention from his parents.

They say the student felt that his one-year-old brother was receiving more attention than he was.
