On Tuesday, police charged Mark Fisher, 46, of Stedman, for allegedly violating a protective order taken out by his former girlfriend.
Investigators said Fisher called her from jail, violating the protective order.
Fisher was arrested and taken into police custody on Monday after his release from WakeMed. He was injured in the blast for which he is charged.
Last week, police say last week Fisher set his former girlfriend's car on fire, which caused an explosion. Sources said Fisher was angry that she did not buy a different car.
Fisher was charged with malicious use of an incendiary device and breaking and entering into a motor vehicle.
