DURHAM, N.C. — The future of Durham's
South Square Mall
is uncertain.
People are still shopping at South Square, but they are doing so in dwindling numbers. Many stores have moved or closed in the face of competition from the new Streets At Southpoint.
South Square management said it hopes traffic will pick up in a month or so, but there are also reports the 25-year-old mall will be demolished, with the exception of Dillard's, which may be left as a "stand alone" store.
