SANFORD, N.C. — Money troubles are forcing a local animal shelter to close its doors.
The
San-Lee Humane Society
said that it cannot afford to accept any more animals. It lost funding from the county several months ago when it became a "no-kill" shelter.
Last weekend, volunteers from the Animal Rescue League of Boston picked up more than 30 dogs and cats to bring to waiting families up north.
The San-Lee Humane Society will close when the rest of its animals are adopted.
