Task Force Finds Cumberland Murder May Not Have Been Preventable

Posted Updated

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — A Cumberland County domestic violence task force thinks a murder over the weekend may not have been preventable.

Shalamar Franceschi was killed at the Tallywood Shopping Center Sunday in Fayetteville. Police say her husband, Damian Franceschi, killed her.

On Wednesday, a fatality review committee looked at all the facts in the case to see if any cracks in the system contributed to her death.

After reviewing court documents and hearing from co-workers, they believe Damian Francheschi's behavior was so unpredictable that it was likely nothing could have protected Shalamar.
