DURHAM — There is big news for shoppers who are anxiously awaiting the opening of the Triangle's newest mall.

With just 100 days to go until the grand opening of the Streets At Southpoint, officials there have announced the

first 100 stores

scheduled to open in March 2002.

There will be 28 exclusive stores and restaurants at the mall.

Retailers include Benetton, Coldwater Creek, Mimi Maternity Hollister Co., and a division of Abercrombie & Fitch.

"We really have stayed focused on probably a moderate price-pointed mall," said Ross Glickman of Urban Retail Properties.

Restaurants include California Pizza Kitchen, which has more than 100 restaurants in 25 states, Washington, D.C. and three countries.

Firebird's Rocky Mountain Grill, a Colorado-themed restaurant will also open at the mall. Its sister restaurant, Baxter's Blue Marlin, is located in Cary. The Charlotte-based chain specializes in aged, hand-cut steaks, fresh seafood, rotisserie chicken, and homemade pizza. It will be reminiscent of a Colorado lodge and seat 225 people.

The main tenants of the mall will be Nordstrom, Hudson Belk, J.C. Penney, Sears and Hecht's, which opened earlier this month.

Officials say the mall will officially open on time at 10 a.m., March 8.
