Fifty-five pastors have joined together to establish a community marriage program. They are recruiting couples in healthy marriages to help mentor couples who are having problems.
The pastors also want engaged couples to get prenuptial counseling before walking down the aisle.
"If we had more healthy families we would have fewer children living in poverty. If we had more healthy families we would have fewer unwed mothers," says Rev. Kevin White of Cary Bible Fellowship.
The divorce rate in Modesto, Calif., the first city to adopt a community marriage program, has dropped by 47 percent. Cary is the 149th community to adopt the program.
