DURHAM, N.C. — Dance supporters donated $43,000 to the American Dance Festival in Durham to honor the legacy of director Charles L. Reinhart, who is leaving the organization after 43 years.

Donations will benefit the newly established Reinhart Fund, which will give scholarships to aspiring dancers who want to attend the ADF school.

Foundations, institutions and other donors pledged to match contributions, if the $43,000 was raised by July 23.

The festival reached its goal Tuesday.
