RALEIGH, N.C. —  A North Carolina gymnast won two gold medals during the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens, Greece, on Tuesday.

Monica Hernandez won gold for her all-around and high beam routines. She captured silver for the uneven bars and vault, and won bronze for the floor exercise.

She competed two days after she developed a small fracture in her foot while practicing.
