Raleigh's Bogarts offers discounts in final days

Posted February 25, 2011

— A Glenwood Avenue staple will close its doors Sunday night.

To celebrate 10 years in downtown Raleigh, Bogart's is offering all entrees for $10. Ten percent of sales will be donated to local charities.

The owners of the space, Rocky Top Hospitality, will convert the location to another restaurant.

I liked Sunday brunch, especially the omelette station where you told them what you wanted on your omelette and you watched them cook it for you.

Rocky Top also closed Michael Dean's to convert. That place had the best Sunday brunch in Raleigh. MD's is converting to Tribeca Tavern, not sure about Bogart's. btw, Tribeca has the best burgers in Raleigh, serves the famous shrimp and grits, and uses mostly North Carolina products in it's menu.

i am more agitated by the fact that we were scheduled to have a party there in june and i had to hear they were closing on the streets and not from them!

I can see why they wanted to change. They were there for 10 years and when they opened, they were one of the only options on Glenwood Ave. The area has built up around them and there are lots and lots of other options that are newer than Bogarts. They are just going to re-vamp the space into something "new" and that will bring the business back. Restaurants usually have a great 2-3 years before the "newness" of the place wears off and people go on to the other "new" places. Smart move by Rocky Top.

Be missed? The food was terrible and the service average at best. If the food was so good why are they closing?
