UNC to award four honorary degrees
UNC-Chapel Hill will award four honorary degrees during its May 9 commencement, officials announced Tuesday.

Paul Rizzo, chairman emeritus of Franklin Street Partners, a private investment management firm in Chapel Hill, will receive a doctor of laws degree. He also is former chief financial officer of IBM and former dean of UNC's Kenan-Flagler Business School.
Gene Roberts, the former national editor of The New York Times and executive editor of The Philadelphia Inquirer, will receive a doctor of laws degree.
Fred Robinson, the Douglas Tracy Smith Professor of English Emeritus at Yale University, will receive a doctor of humane letters degree.
Patricia Timmons-Goodson, an associate justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court, will receive a doctor of laws degree.
Chancellor Holden Thorp will preside at the commencement ceremony at 9:30 a.m. in Kenan Stadium. The featured speaker will be John Grisham, author of 23 books including numerous best-selling legal thrillers.
