RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh postal carrier will be honored on Tuesday for his outstanding safety record.

Ronald C. Miller will be inducted into the National Safety Council's Million Mile Club, given to employees who drive for at least 30 years or one million miles without a preventable motor vehicle accident.

Only a dozen letter carriers annually receive the honor.

"Considering the daily challenges of driving in Raleigh and reaching hundreds of delivery points day in and day out, to achieve this milestone is nothing short of remarkable," Raleigh Postmaster Howard Sample said.

The ceremony will be held Tuesday morning at the Avent Ferry Station Post Office, 3233 Avent Ferry Road.
