Motorists can call 511 24 hours a day, seven days a year from any phone or log on to www.nc511.com for real-time information about traffic conditions, including delays, closures due to construction, weather or accidents.

The state Department of Transportation has answered more than 4 million non-emergency calls for travel information over the course of the past 5 years.
The toll-free North Carolina 511 service debuted in 2004.
“511 is a great tool for getting traffic and construction information on major routes in North Carolina,” State Transportation Secretary Gene Conti said.
Motorists can call 511 24 hours a day, seven days a week from any phone. They also can log on to www.nc511.com for real-time information about traffic conditions, including delays and closures due to construction, weather or accidents. An automated voice recognition system guides callers through the system.
The service also offers information on North Carolina ferry and rail services and state and national parks.
