STANTONSBURG, N.C. — Two people from Wilson County are the first big winners in the new $20 scratch-off game from the North Carolina Education Lottery.

Lottery officials introduced Regina and Ricky Whitaker Friday morning at the store where they bought the winning ticket -- Stantonsburg Friendly Mart, at 218 Moyton Drive in Stantonsburg.

Regina Whitaker said she bought her first "$200 Million Extravaganza" ticket on the day the game was launched. She won $25 and used the winnings to buy a second ticket. It turned out to be the winner.

“I said, ‘Lord!’ and fell on my knees,” Regina Whitaker said.

The Whitakers claimed the first of 20 annual installments Friday and said they plan to use some of the money toward a trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C.
