RALEIGH, N.C. — The fourth annual Magnificent Mile races will be held Sunday afternoon around the state Capitol.

The races were inspired by Sarah Roberts-Witt, who suffers from motor neuron diseases (MNDs). She was an avid marathoner before the illness began in 2004.

The Magnificent Mile races have raised more than $100,000 to fund research grants awarded by the Spastic Paraplegia Foundation to help find a cure for motor neuron diseases.

The Magnificent Mile start/finish area will be located near the 300 block of Hillsborough Street in downtown Raleigh at the intersection with Harrington Street.
