RALEIGH, N.C. — WRAL-TV anchors Valonda Calloway and Monica Laliberte danced on Sunday to raise money for charity.

Calloway and Laliberte joined Ruth Sheehan from The News and Observer, and NBC-17’s Wes Hohenstein and Penn Holderness for the “Dancing Like the Stars” competition. Each local personality joined with a professional partner - similar to the popular TV show "Dancing With the Stars.”

The event was held during the Southern Women’s Show at the State Fairgrounds.

Sheehan won this year's competition. Last year, former WRAL-TV anchor Lynda Loveland was named the winner..

This year’s judges were Mike Morse from G105, Mark Roberts, host of WRAL’s Brain Game and Freddie-Lee Heath, president-elect of the North Carolina Alliance for Athletics, Health, P.E., Recreation and Dance.

All proceeds from the contest benefit the the Bubel/Aiken Foundation, which was cofounded in 2003 by former American Idol alum and Raleigh native Clay Aiken. The nonprofit promotes the inclusion of children with disabilities in activities with children who are not disabled.
