RALEIGH, N.C. — The annual Free to Breathe event was held Saturday in Raleigh.

Free to Breathe was started last year to raise awareness and research funding for lung cancer.

North Carolina State University’s Centennial Campus hosted the event, which included a one-mile run/walk, 5K run/walk and a 100-yard kid's dash.

Taylor Bell was one of many lung cancer survivors taking part in the 5K run/walk. Bell was diagnosed with the disease a year ago when she was 21-years-old.

“I’m tired. My lungs are sore but other than that I’m good,” Bell said.

Bell ran on behalf of the North Carolina Lung Cancer Partnership.
