Fayetteville offers free jazz Sunday

Fayetteville native John Brown and his Grammy-nominated John Brown Orchestra will present a free concert Sunday at Festival Park.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville native John Brown and his Grammy-nominated John Brown Orchestra will present a free concert Sunday at Festival Park.

A student jazz ensemble from Fayetteville State University will open the show at 2 p.m. and the headliner will take the stage around 3:30 p.m.

Brown is the director of the jazz program at Duke University and a graduate of the School of Music at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the School of Law at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Coolers, lawn chairs, drinks and snacks are welcome. Pets are not allowed in Festival Park.

Parking in the Ray Avenue lot will be limited to handicapped and special needs drivers.
