— Dozens of volunteers made cleaning up sites along the Neuse River their Saturday chore. It was the 10th year for the Neuse Riverkeeper Foundation's annual cleanup.

People picked up trash and debris along the Neuse River from Falls Dam in North Raleigh through Johnston County.

Last year's haul took in more than 250 bags of trash, weighing more than 8,000 pounds.

Thank you all. I have an old aluminum ladder that my son pulled from the river several years ago when his Scout Troop (Troop 124-Clayton) helped with the river clean up.

Is there a way to get some of those big blown over trees out of the river?? If we could get those out, the Neuse would be even more beautiful.
