RALEIGH, N.C. —

Wake County parents interested in enrolling their children in magnet schools for the 2012-13 school year can stop by Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School Saturday to meet with school administrators, teachers and other parents about the school district's programs.

The event runs from 9 a.m. until noon at 2600 Rock Quarry Road.

The application period for magnet schools runs from Dec. 5 to 19. Parents will receive notification about their application in January, prior to the first of two choice-selection periods, during which parents will have an opportunity to select and prioritize the schools near their homes where they would like their children to attend.

Under the district's new assignment plan that was adopted last month, parents will receive their assignments either in late February, early March or mid-April, depending on when they make their selections.
