— North Carolina Central University canceled classes Thursday due to a major power outage, officials announced.

University officials said the outage was affecting most of campus, including the cafeteria. It was caused by a malfunction at a substation.

Employees were told they could use paid-leave for any absences Thursday.

The athletic department had alternative arrangements for O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium, and the scheduled football game against  Johnson C. Smith will proceed as scheduled at 7 p.m.

Classes will resume Friday.

Wow! I am always amazed at how some people can flip a story and turn it into racism when it is not race related. What does cancelling classes due to a power out outage have to do with racism? Posters, please read and stick to the story instead of going off topic **should have learned how to do that in grade school**.
To the NCCU Eagles, hopefully the power is turned on so that you can learn and enjoy your college experience.

NCCU is like the 13th grade, why is this racist school still in business?

Really?? And why would you say it is a racist school? I am still in awe how suddenly everything that black or african american is racist. Wow. By the way I heard that they have a very good law school and this was told to me by white attendees.

Students would be thanking their lucky stars, had this happened a little later in the semester, like near mid-terms!
