HENDERSON, N.C. — Trooper Brent Montgomery will be laid to rest on Saturday at the South Henderson Church of God.
The North Carolina state trooper, who had been battling COVID-19 in the ICU for over a month, died earlier this week. Montgomery was on life support and on a ventilator.

His service will be live-streamed on the highway patrol's Facebook page at 3 p.m.

Montgomery tested positive for the virus on Feb. 1. Family members said he pushed through it for several days until his oxygen levels dropped and he went to the hospital.

"Brent was a true warrior, who fought a courageous battle against COVID-19 with the love and support of his wife, Heather, and their three children," the North Carolina State Highway Patrol posted on its Facebook page.
