— A North Carolina State University student told police two men with a knife robbed him early Sunday as he walked on the Rocky Branch green-way trail behind Derr Track Field near Morrill Drive, according to a campus alert.

The student, whose name was not released, said the men approached him shortly before 1:45 a.m. and demanded his wallet. When he refused, one of the men pulled out a knife and swung at him, leaving a small scratch on his arm and chest, according to police.

The men then took the student's wallet out of his coat pocket and fled the area. No other information was released.

No it's not inane or silly. I and a lot of other people are tired of a small cross section of the general public deciding that we law abiding citizens have to rely on an over burdened, under manned, and often incompetent police force to protect us. These criminals don't care about "gun free zones" and it's about time for people to stand up and take matters into their own hands instead of giving the perception of everyone being spineless cowards who hide under their beds and pray someone gets there in time to save them.

    That's just silly.

You are correct. If a state university opts to take away the student's 2nd Amendment right to protect themselves, then they should be 100% responsible for protecting them 100% of the time.

File this inane opinion in the trash bin.

I guess my first comment was too offensive for the anti gun mediator so here's a softer version for the "easily offended". Maybe if people on campus had the option of defending themselves instead of having to rely on the police crimes like this would be non-existent. As is stands right now I feel that this person should be able to sue the College for failing to protect him from being robbed. It seems to me that when they banned any form of concealed carry on campus they assumed all responsibility for every student's safety. In reality they have made campus more dangerous by not allowing people to defend themselves and worse, posting signs to that effect...
