The Museum of Life and Science in Durham has a new coffee shop.

Elements: Museum Store and Coffee Bar is now open in the space formerly occupied by just the museum store. The store features natural-themed home goods, culinary science gifts, building sets, science gadgets and other items.

The coffee shop, run by Tom Meyer, owner/operator of the museum's Sprout Cafe and Farmers Table Restaurant Group, offers a full service coffee bar with locally roasted, organic Joe Van Gogh coffee, along with baked goods. Museum members will get 10 percent off all of their Elements purchases, including the merchandise and coffee bar items.

Elements is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m., Sunday. Monday hours will begin April 7 when the museum reopens with regular Monday hours.

During construction, the museum's original gift shop moved around the corner right next to the Soundspace exhibit. They will still have items there geared toward kids and school groups.
