RALEIGH, N.C. — Police are investigating the murder of a man found in a guest room at an extended-stay hotel in Raleigh on Thursday.

Just after 11:30 a.m., police found the body of Stephen Curtis Hoyle, 24, in a room at the Studio Plus hotel, 921 Wake Towne Drive.

Police did not say how Hoyle died.

Hotel guest Yumeiko Pete said her family heard something unusual Thursday morning before police arrived.

"My stepdad says he heard shots, but he didn't really think it was anything, just a couple of people fighting or something like that," Pete said.

Anyone with information about Hoyle's death should call Crime Stoppers at 919-834-HELP. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for anonymous tips that help solve cases.
