Murdered man found in Raleigh hotel room

Posted January 26, 2012

— Police are investigating the murder of a man found in a guest room at an extended-stay hotel in Raleigh on Thursday.

Just after 11:30 a.m., police found the body of Stephen Curtis Hoyle, 24, in a room at the Studio Plus hotel, 921 Wake Towne Drive.

Police did not say how Hoyle died.

Hotel guest Yumeiko Pete said her family heard something unusual Thursday morning before police arrived.

"My stepdad says he heard shots, but he didn't really think it was anything, just a couple of people fighting or something like that," Pete said.

Anyone with information about Hoyle's death should call Crime Stoppers at 919-834-HELP. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for anonymous tips that help solve cases.

Thanks Jenna for your biblical references and please tell JonPaul hello. I hope you are doing well with your recent marriage vows and that Garner is treating you two well :)

These comments are disgusting - coming from a close family friend. Stephen was a decent human being. His death does not allow you to judge or critize him. Give his mother + brother the respect they deserve. It is NOT up to you to judge his life unless you have walked in his shoes!! He was deeply loved and will be missed!RIP Stephen Curtis!

They'll get off with 15 years or Wake DA's botching the case causing a hung jury or mistrial or acquital on all charges.

Carolinaprincess...I will absolutely call 911 even if I suspect it may be love making. Please do the same for me :)

The hotels have TONS of cameras, from all different angles. The people going in and out of that room where he was found is OBVIOUS, especially after the supposed 'noise' time frame.

I want to commend the Raleigh Homicide detectives and all involved in the awesome job you guys are doing. This city has turned into a cesspool lately and you are doing a fantastic job to keep the perps where they belong..IN A CAGE!!!!

Just in case I happen to be staying in the room next to one of you in a hotel.....if you hear gunshots or what sounds like fighting (unless you're sure it's just wild passionate love making), would you please dial 911...the life you save might be mine!

Maybe you people should take into account the other side of it. That is someone's family. Being ignorant and making immature comments is absurd. This story hits home for some people. So before you decide to embarrass yourself, think.
