DURHAM, N.C. — A motorcyclist has died from injuries he suffered in a weekend wreck, Durham police said Wednesday.

Patrick Carl Friedhoff, 23, hit the back of a Ford Expedition on northbound Interstate 85 near the Duke Street exit at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Friedhoff was thrown from his motorcycle and was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment, police said.

The Expedition driver, Leonarde Benitez, and the six occupants of the SUV weren't injured, police said.

Officers determined that Friedhoff was speeding at the time of the collision, police said, so no charges have been filed in the case.
