Chase, head-on collision leads to charges against Willow Spring biker

The motorcycle rider who led state troopers on a brief chase Wednesday afternoon in Wake County faces charges for that chase among others.

RALEIGH, N.C. — The motorcycle rider who led state troopers on a brief chase Wednesday afternoon in Wake County faces charges for that chase among others.
State troopers spotted Scottie Lee Horne, 34, of 202 Black Creek Court in Willow Spring, doing 75 mph in a 45 mph zone on N.C. 42 and attempted to pull him over. Instead, he sped away and drove south in the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 401, where he collided head-on with a Honda driven by 31-year-old Thomas Nelson of Willow Spring, according to Sgt. Michael Baker of the State Highway Patrol.
Horne was taken to WakeMed where he was treated for his injuries and released to Wake County Jail Wednesday night.

He was charged with DWI, driving while his license was revoked, speeding, reckless driving, having a fictitious license plate, not having insurance, failure to register his vehicle, driving the wrong way on a dual lane highway and felony speeding to elude arrest.
