More charges filed against Moncure shooting suspect

Chatham County authorities have filed more charges against a Chapel Hill man arrested in connection with a shooting in Moncure two weeks ago.

PITTSBORO, N.C. — Chatham County authorities have filed more charges against a Chapel Hill man arrested in connection with a shooting in Moncure two weeks ago.

Angel Abiel Soto, 27, was arrested at a Chapel Hill apartment complex on Feb. 15 following an intense manhunt that started with a shooting the previous day that left one man wounded. He has been in the Chatham County jail on charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.

On Tuesday, authorities charged him with one count of felony hoax by false bomb and two counts of felony possession of a firearm by a felon. A training grenade and firearms were found in his vehicle, they said.
