— A Fayetteville man accused of raping a woman at gunpoint Wednesday night now faces weapons charges, police said Friday.

A woman told police that a man kidnapped her from a parking lot in the 200 block of Ramsey Street and forced her to drive to a desolate section of Brinkley Street, where he raped her. She said she was able to escape and call for help after wounding him in the leg during a struggle for his gun.

Latorie Jerriel Crumpler, 32, of Abbottswood Drive, was initially charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree rape and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. On Friday, police also charged him with larceny of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The new charges increased his bond from $100,000 to $140,000. He remained in custody Friday at the Cumberland County jail.

we will soon be like California where convicts serve only hslf their sentence because of over crowding. Fayetteville is a safe haven for criminals, evry Friday the jail is emptied with unsecure bonds to get ready for a new crowd.

As I said before, if she had aimed higher, we wouldn't be having this discussion...

With all he charge with and raping her with a loaded gun, I pray the courts and jury send this man to prison for life and no parole. He deserves nothing less. Pray for the young lady.

I really don't believe the article said that she was raped with a loaded gun. She was raped "at gunpoint" but not "with a gun" I know...there is a difference between reading and comprehending. I guess that is what happens when raised by gypsy's.

So let's see.. 1st degree kidnapping, 1st degree rape, and assault with a deadly weapon are worth 100,00 combined..but stealing a gun and being a felon is worth a cool 40,000. I bet when all is said and done this guy won't serve more than a few years... he ism the real victim right? Sick of it!

"drug possession with intent to sell"

OOOOHHHHHH terrible crime. Who is the victim? Sounds like 2 people making a free market deal to me. It was probably that evil natural plant too. Funny! Thanks!

Yesterday it was reported the kidnapping occurred in the 2900 block of Ramsey Street and that was the business that was shown on the news. The 200 block is in downtown. Which is it? That's about a 2 1/2 mile difference. Either way, glad she got away with her life, hope he goes to prison for the rest of his. The DOC website shows he has a lengthy record for B&E, drug possession with intent to sell, and numerous other crimes. Shouldn't he be charged with possession of a weapon by a felon too?
