— Moore County deputies arrested a 19-year-old man Monday for having sex with a minor.

Authorities arrested Jordan Dana Kirk, of 260 Oakland Lane in Jackson Springs, after receiving a tip that he had been having sex with a 14-year-old girl from Vass.

Investigators charged him with seven counts of statutory rape, seven counts of statutory sex offense, two counts of crimes against nature and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, sheriff's officials said.

Kirk was taken before a magistrate and received a $15,000 unsecured bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for July 31 in Moore County District Court.

Rev RB - Maybe so. I live in a fairly rural area, and working in the schools I see a lot of - there's no polite way of putting it: "white trash." These are people who are backwards, ignorant, and low in character. Their children use profanity as liberally as their parents even before they're school age - and they see nothing wrong our ot of the norm about indiscriminate sexual relationships from an early age. Their socioeconomic and moral issues are a serious problem in our communities. Lots of work needed.

God bless you, too - your signature intrigues me! -

at 19 one should know the definition of the words "jail bait."

laura - "...what makes you think it's immigrant problem? We have subcultures in both white and black communities where early sexualization is the norm."

The "norm" in your neighborhood then is far different from the norm in mine; and where I live is nearly as poor and derelict as those in some third world countries.

    God bless.

The girl should be charge also. I think NC needs to look at chnging this law, it's NOT always the guy's fault.

    Real men don't rape.

diana - "In their culture it is accepted".

That's why it continues then. sheesh

Whatever happened to "When in Rome, do as the Romans do," but when you come to the states, you can ignore the laws and customs of the states while you're here.

But I'm sure you already thought of this. However, if that's the school's decision, it would make me fear for my children because they're seeing it's ok for some, why not them.

We need to pray for those pregnant seventh graders. Poor things, the road that's been dealt to them - and their offspring.

    God bless.

    tragic on many levels.

saw a news story on a similar situation the other day. the girl interviewed said that it was her idea and she pushed until he gave in. her mother didn't want her to have sex so she told the police. a day later the mother asked them to drop charges once she cooled down and they wouldn't. this couple said they were in love from the start and is now married with two children but he is forced to re-register as a sex offender every year, cannot work around children, and was forced to move out of his home when this initially happened since he had younger siblings.

i can only imagine that this wasn't her first older guy, or younger guy, or some the same age. This age group of girls is really sexually active and they really go after it from any age male they can corner up long enough..

As is often the case, lots of details missing leaving the whole situation open to a lot of speculation. If he knew he was having sex with a 14 year old, then, yes, he sould be charged becuase he knew it was wrong, he's the adult and is expected to act as such. However, I fully realize a lot of 14 year olds will do all they can to get an older boy to have sex with them. In that case I think there should be consequences for the girl as well as she also knew she was putting her partner in a precarious position. My main thing is Where were her parents and why didn't they know their daughter was with a 19 year old (again, assuming it was consensual)? His parents job is done, they're no longer responsible for his actions unless he's mentally impaired in such a way that they are still his guardians.
