Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — Strange figures lighting up the north Raleigh sky Wednesday evening were helicopters involved in a military training exercise, according to a spokeswoman for Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
The odd lights in the area of Six Forks Road and Interstate 540 prompted numerous calls to the WRAL newsroom, as well as to Raleigh 911 dispatchers.
The low-flying aircraft aren't a threat to the public, an airport spokeswoman said.
