Lucama, N.C. — The principal of Springfield Middle School in Wilson County was arrested Friday on child-sex charges, according to police records.
Ronald Earl Barringer, 41, faces charges of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. On Dec. 9, he allegedly had materials showing minors engaged in sexual activity, according to court records.
Authorities arrested him in the 100 block of Goldsboro Street East.
Parents said they received a recorded call from Wilson County School District Superintendent Larry Price saying that Barringer had resigned.
Barringer was released from the Wilson County jail after posting a $12,000 bond Friday afternoon.
