Men rob Texaco store in Raleigh

Posted September 3, 2009

— Two men armed with handguns robbed a Texaco Mart convenience store on Lake Wheeler Road, near Tryon Road, around midnight Wednesday, Raleigh police said.

One man ordered a customer to get on the ground, while the other took an undisclosed amount of money from the register, police said. The men then fled.

No one was hurt.

Police said one man was black, about 20 years old, 6 feet tall and weighing 150 pounds. He wore a royal blue hoodie that partially blocked his face.

The other was black, between 18 and 20 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, between 130 and 140 pounds. He wore a red bandanna and a cream hoodie partially blocking his face.

OK, so I guess I have to explain myself to get my comment posted since the "Thought Police" are in my head again, get out!

As I asked before, "would this be the crips or the bloods?" I don't believe that the question is either bigoted or racist in any way, but why else would WRAL not allow the post unless they thought I was thinking that way?

As far as the story, I can't think of any other reason somebody would wear a red bandana to a robbery. (it kind of makes you stand out just a little). But, then again, the other guy was wearing blue which would be a crips color. Hey, maybe they have joined forces in NC? I'm mostly kidding here, but I find it interesting that my original question was not allowed past the Thought Police. I guess we have to be PC even when talking about armed robbers! Wow WRAL...just wow.

The Wake County crime map could stand improving. I understand the crimes of burglary, theft and assault, but what is the crime "arrest". Is it meant to imply that an arrest took place at the location? If so, what was the crime? Was it jaywalking? Was it running a red light or a failure to stop?
