Men charged in Fayetteville shooting connected to robbery

Two men charged in connection with a March shooting at a Fayetteville McDonalds were served with additional warrants Wednesday in connection to a March 17 robbery.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Two men charged in connection with a March shooting at a Fayetteville McDonalds were served with additional warrants Wednesday in connection to a March 17 robbery.

Authorities said that on March 17, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at 102 North Reilly Road. Investigators said that 22-year-old Denzel Cooper, of the 4100 block of Butner Road, was robbed at gunpoint by three men after responding to a Craigslist ad for a cellphone.

Authorities said the three men entered Cooper’s vehicle at gunpoint and forced him to drive a short distance before robbing him of his personal belongings and fleeing on foot.

On March 21, two people were injured following a shooting at a Fayetteville McDonalds after three men robbed Darius Keyshawn Joyner, 19, of Stedman, during a cellphone sale.

Delon Russell-Dyer, 18, of the 6700 block of Willowbrook Drive, Jairron Harrington, 18, of the 1900 block of Pumpkin Road, and Dustin Lane Tippett, 17, of the 3500 block Belridge Drive, faced charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of stolen property in connection with that incident.

During the investigation of the March 21 incident, police determined that Russell-Dyer and Tippett were also involved in the March 17 robbery. Dijon Cole Cissel, 18, of the 750 block of Ashbrook Road, was also charged in connection with the robbery.

All three men face charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon, second-degree kidnapping, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of stolen property.

Russell-Dyer and Tippett have been held at the Cumberland County Detention Center since their arrest on March 22. Their bonds were increased to $600,000 and $500,000, respectively.

Cissel was arrested at his home on Tuesday and was being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under $500,000 secured bond.
