Memorial service held for teacher killed in Capital Boulevard crash

Police say Michelle Barlow was traveling down Capital Boulevard when her minivan was rear-ended by a dump truck, pushing her vehicle into the back of a tractor trailer.

Investigators said Donald Wayne Caulder, 29, of Laurinburg, was traveling north on Capital Boulevard in a 2004 Freightliner dump truck towing a Bobcat at about 4:15 p.m. when he rear-ended Barlow’s 2004 Toyota Sienna.

During the service, Barlow's husband, Michael, spoke with a message for Caulder.

“Donald, what I can say with the complete honesty, sincerity—from the bottom of my heart—is, I forgive you,” Michael Barlow said.

Michael Barlow is a student at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary; he and Michelle Barlow have two children.

“We do not take this loss of someone so precious lightly in any way,” Barlow said.

Caulder was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed.

“So Michelle, all we can say no is you always were, and you always will be, our baby girl, and we will always love you,” said Lynn Simone, Barlow’s mother.

Authorities said Caulder has a history of eight driving-related violations since 2008.
