— A 48-year-old Manteo man was charged with murder early Friday in connection with a fatal shooting on Roanoke Island, the Dare County Sheriff's Office said.

Officers responding to a call on Fernando Street early Friday discovered Edgar Govan and 26-year-old Steven Craig Stewart, who had been shot.

At 48, I think Edgar here might be too old to run, thus the relatively low bond.

Ahh see he attempted to escape, so they increased his bond because he's an escape risk. Also, they guy with the 100k bond may have prior convictions and be from out of the area.

300,000 bond with one person dead and another person shot? Really? A young man charged with a misdemeanor simply tussled with a police officer and attempted to escape and he gets a 100,000 dollar bond. HUH?
