PITTSBORO, N.C. — Chatham County authorities arrested a man and were looking for a second person after a high-speed chase and home break-in early Thursday afternoon.

Raymond Jose Fuentes, 26, of Rosetta Drive, Durham, faces more than a dozen charges in the breaking-and-entering, which happened around 1:45 p.m. on American Court in Apex, and the subsequent chase. It ended in a crash in Pittsboro at the intersection of U.S. Highway 64 and N.C. Highway 87.

Fuentes' charges include one count each of felony fleeing to elude arrest, reckless driving, breaking and entering, felony larceny, possession of stolen goods and three counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Investigators are still looking for a man who jumped from the car and ran from the scene. The Chatham County Sheriff's Office said he was in his early 20s and was wearing only blue jeans.

Authorities said a 20-gauge double-barrel shotgun, 12-gauge shotgun, .22 caliber hunting rifle and Airsoft gun that were reported missing from the home were found in the car.

A Dell laptop, gold wedding band, iPod and Xbox were also reported stolen, according to a police report.

Anyone with information that could assist authorities should call 911.
