COLUMBIA, S.C. — A man wanted in connection with the shooting of his 15-year-old son and ex-wife was found dead Wednesday evening, according to the Norlina police chief.

Chief Taylor Bartholomew said Earl Valentine, who shot his ex-wife, Keisha Valentine, and shot and killed his son early Tuesday morning, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a motel in Columbia, South Carolina.

Authorities said they found Valentine by tracking his cell phone.

“The suspect committed a cowardly act by killing his son and shooting his wife and then he went out the same way,” Bartholomew said.

Bartholomew said Earl Valentine recorded a video via Facebook live about the homicide. In the video, Valentine can be heard saying he has "no remorse" for the shootings, and that his wife "deserved what she had coming."

"I loved my wife, but she deserved what she had coming," he said. "I know a lot of y'all are going to be disappointed in me, but it was something that had to be done."

Authorities said a domestic protection order was in place but expired last month.

Bartholomew said Keisha Valentine, who was in critical condition Tuesday, was "doing better" Wednesday night.
